New Labor Latino Worker's Rights Group

New Labor is an organization that educates, organizes, and fights for better work conditions and social justice in the workplace. With a base of around 4,000 members, New Labor organizes to empower our members and amplify their voices in the community, workplace, and political realm.

In the Political Realm
New Labor is also a local leader in the national campaign for just and humane immigration reform, and an important local player in pushing for state- and local-level policies that respect immigrant families and unite our communities.

New Labor members have met with members of Congress and other state and local leaders, and have helped turn out voters to the polls through non-partisan civic engagement efforts.

In the Workplace
New Labor has helped empower workers to recover hundreds of thousands of dollars in unpaid wages, clean up dangerous health and safety conditions, and exercise their worker rights. Our members make up the workforce in a variety of important employment sectors in NJ, including warehousing and logistics, work through temporary employment agencies, domestic work, construction and remodeling, street vending, and other small businesses, including landscaping, restaurant work, and day labor.

Trainings
Through our educational programs, hundreds of members have learned English and computer skills, and have participated in training on topics ranging from workplace health and safety regulations to the perils of domestic abuse.

Our Reach
New Labor operates three centers in New Brunswick, Lakewood, and Newark, NJ, and has a reach that extends through Hudson, Bergen, Essex, Morris, Union, Middlesex, Somerset, Monmouth, and Ocean counties.
