New Jersey Coalition Against Sexual Assault (NJCASA)

Our mission is to promote the compassionate and just treatment of survivors and their loved ones; foster collaborative relationships between community systems; and affect attitudinal and behavioral changes in society as we work toward the elimination of sexual violence against all people. In order to accomplish this, NJCASA focuses their efforts through the following channels: Training, Advocacy, and Collaboration.

Training
NJCASA offers regular training through our Training Institute. We focus on issues relevant to New Jersey rape crisis centers and community partners. NJCASA’s Training Institute provides sexual violence education in New Jersey with statewide, regional, and online webinar training. We deliver comprehensive and consistent information to the members of our 22 sexual violence programs and practitioners from many disciplines that have a vested interest in the elimination of sexual assault.

Advocacy
NJCASA supports legislation and state policies that put survivors first and create affirming response systems. We also work with statewide organizations to create a groundswell of support for important current issues. NJCASA advocates for policies that support survivors of sexual violence, Confidential Sexual Violence Advocates, service providers, and allied professionals. Through sitting on the Governor’s Advisory Council Against Sexual Violence and working closely with policy makers, we set priorities and make meaningful efforts toward healing and justice.

Collaboration
We respect all voices and welcome additional collaborative partners who are seeking justice for survivors and are working to end systems of inequality. One of our most valued collaborations is our Campus Consortium. The Consortium is made up of dedicated campus professionals from colleges and universities throughout New Jersey looking to create positive change and eliminate all forms of violence. The Consortium meets quarterly to develop thoughtful responses to timely issues impacting campus communities and create a collection of best practices in sexual assault response, investigation, and prevention on colleges and universities.
