Union County Youth Services Bureau

Families-in-crisis can benefit from professional guidance and support to prevent or better manage their child or teen’s behaviors that may place their safety at risk.

Our staff of trained case managers can help parents and kids explore and act on solutions to problems such as truancy, runaway behavior, poor school performance, mental health issues, substance abuse and related personal problems.

Client confidentiality is a quality standard at the Youth Services Bureau. In the event that a referral for specialized services is necessary, we obtain your written authorization to share your case information with the accepting agency to ensure that privacy of your request for services is respected and protected.

Our Servcies:

24/7 Family Crisis Inervention

Operated 24 hours a day, seven days a week, FCIU mediates servere parent/child conflicts and provides appropriate services to youth involved with truancy, runaway behavior, and minor delinquent acts.   Once all reasonable efforts to resolve a crisis are exhausted, FCIU may opt to file a Family Crisis Petition with Superior Court, Family Division or recommend temporary out-of-home placement until a family court hearing can be conducted. 

Case Monitoring and Referral Services

Our Crisis Intervention Specialists provide families with Telehone Intervention inclluding Conflict Prevention Strategies and Solution-based Referrals.  Face-to-face Conferneces with the family may also be scheduled within 24 business hours from initial contact.  Case monitoring/management is offered for up tto 3 monts which includes multiple contacts with family, school, and other pertinent agencies.  

Parents in Action-Educational Support Groups (Bilingual in ENG and SPN)

The parenting educational support groups build upon families' strengths by providing parents with the information, skills and principles essential for children to become caring, competent, responsible and resilient.  By incorporating these key protective factors into their relationship with their children, parents can help their children become productive citizens.  

The PARENT ZONE Social Media and Website

Our new website-based resource for parents seeking to become more knowledgeable about a broad range of subjects that affect the health, safety and development of their children. For instance, safe use of the internet and popular social media sites for children, and valuable information about the juvenile justice system and family court process. Plus, the site will service as a resource about youth programs and events happening in Union County.
